I’m thrilled to be returning to Edmonds for the Write on the Sound conference the first weekend in October. I’ll be speaking in three sessions:

Saturday October 3:
Home(s) For Your Short Story: You’ve finished your short story, workshopped it, revised it, workshopped it, revised it again. Now what? This session is for those who want to take the leap and hit “send.” We’ll review protocols and etiquette for submitting short works, researching markets, recordkeeping, and what to expect with “yes.”

Live Critique Panel with Scott Eagan, Anne Elliott and Kim Purcell: An opportunity to have two (2) pages from a current project read aloud and critiqued by the panelists.

Sunday October 4:
Ekphrasis: The Story Inside the Painting: Ever wish you could live inside a painting? Ekphrasis—the literary response to visual art—often takes the form of poetry, but this session will be about narrative. Using specific artworks, we will experiment on new stories, while looking at what authors have done in response to the same images.
